16 CEOs are due in Turkey
The summit which will be held with the support of the World Bank (IBRD) and the International Monetary FUnd (IMF) , aims at attracting more foreign investors to Turkey, by virtue of these giant companies. State Minister Ali Babacan will be host of the meeting.
However, a number of CEOs told their Turkish partners that "We have not been informed about the content of the meeting; what are we going to talk about?"
The meeting is a product of efforts spent by IBRD President James Wolfenson and the Turkish government is attaching big importance on it.
Oguz Satici, the President of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) said that the international investors summit was in fact a "consultative summit" and, "We shall hold meetings of 25-30 people with the CEOs. They will explain us the things that would attarcat them to invest in Turkey."
The annual returns of the CEOs to be hosted at the Ciragan Palace, are above Turkey’s national income.
This meeting was originally planned and voiced by former State Minister – Currently CHP deputy- Kemal Dervis when he returned home from U.S. after the February 2001 economic crisis in Turkey. The meeting was postponed when the Ecevit govrenment had to call on early elections and then, replaced by Justice and Development Party.
