14 Turkish Banks among World’s Greatest

The list, which appears in the July issue of The Banker, places Ziraat Bank at 115th on the list, making it the top Turkish bank. Akbank followed closely at 131st, as did IS Bank at 144th. Halk Bank was the only Turkish bank to fall in the rankings, dropping form 409th to 441st.

Five Turkish banks also appear on The Banker’s list of ‘Fastest Growing Banks’. Vakifbank became the second fastest growing bank in the world with it ascension from 812th place on the 2002 version of the Top 1,000 list to 412th place in 2003. Finansbank is the 12th fastest growing bank, followed by Kocbank (18th), Disbank (21st) and Turkish Economy Bank (35th).

As far as the country as a whole is concerned, Turkey tied the US for first on the fastest growing banks list.
