Turkey Protests Bring Rivals Together

   
InternationalFans of different football teams have banded together in support of the ongoing anti-government rally raging on key cities of Turkey, including Istanbul and Ankara.

Supporters of the Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas cast away their difference and marched together in support of the protest in Turkey.

Despite attempts by Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc to quell the unrest by apologizing to the methods the police are using to hunt protesters, the rallies raged on.

The protests have been going on for five days. Police were reported to have used water cannon and tear gas to the angry mob.

The demonstration has so far claimed two lives.

Mr Arinc is in charge of the problem while Prime Minister Erdogan continues is tour of North Africa.

According to Mr Arinc, the use of violence against the protesters was “wrong and unfair,” further apologizing to the citizens.

On top of the protest in Taksim Square, reports have surfaced regarding the two-day strike planned by union members of Turkey’s public sectors. The 240,000 members of the Confederation of Public Workers' Unions started their support. The strike is likely to ripple to various institutions, including schools, universities and public offices.
