Turkey's nationalist opposition leader slams government’s Kurdish plan

Turkey’s nationalist opposition leader on Thursday criticized a government plan for a solution to the Kurdish problem, saying it aims to provide political and legal legitimacy to ethnically separatist movements

“This expansion aims to provide political and legal legitimacy to ethnically separatist movements in accordance with the strategy of the terror organization PKK,” Nationalist Movement Party, or MHP, leader Devlet Bahçeli said in a written statement a day after the Turkey’s interior minister outlined a government plan on the Kurdish problem.

Without elaborating on the details of the government plan, Interior Minister Beşir Atalay said on Wednesday that Turkey is determined to take more steps toward "democratization" in a bid to solve the issue. He added the problem would be resolved with “more freedom and more democracy.”
