Rosberg of Williams Bowed to Take Fast Start in Turkey

SportsThe Williams driver got his season off to a flying start scoring a podium in Australia but has struggled to maintain his form since. Nico Rosberg has vowed to hit the ground running in Turkey after a disappointing result in the last grand prix. He retired with an engine failure on lap 41 in Spain while lying seventh, but is confident he can turn his fortunes around in time for the next round of the championship.

“We need to analyze the data from Barcelona to ensure that we hit the ground running at Istanbul Park,” he wrote on the team’s website. Rosberg admitted Williams was caught out by the change in track conditions between pre-race testing in Barcelona and the race weekend itself.

“We introduced a new aerodynamic package on the FW30 in Spain,” explained Nico. “It had shown itself to be a good step forward during testing at the Circuit de Catalunya the previous week, but when we returned there for the race, the track conditions were different and we struggled.

“To overcome these grip problems we changed the set-up on my car and that turned out to be the wrong thing to do.“I struggled for grip and it was only when I adopted something close to Kazuki [Nakajima’s] set-up for the race that I had the car to my liking.” Last year the German enjoyed a heated battle in Turkey with Robert Kubica’s BMW and is looking for a similarly competitive performance this time round.“I finished seventh last year and think the track will suit the FW30, so I’m looking forward to the race,” he said.
